I’m a design strategy leader and qualitative research specialist with 20 years in design for technology.

A graduate in spatial and graphic design, I began with a brief cameo in set design for theatre, followed by 12 years as a product designer and digital creative lead in Australia and the UK.

In 2016, I came home to Australia and fell in love with behavioural research and service design during my time at Fjord, where I led teams in innovation projects for nearly five years.

With a systems mindset and end-to-end view, I quickly turn insights into initiatives, and I speak the language of customers, senior stakeholders, and product teams alike. I want to create meaningful experiences that prioritise people, the planet, and the right kind of progress.

Leading the Service Design practice for Atlassian's Design System team, I worked across research and insights, experience strategy, design experimentation, service design coaching and facilitation.

The focus was to guide the core strategy with continuous maker discovery, engaging with leaders, designers and engineers across the organisation to shape the Design System as a service; ultimately helping makers craft high-quality, accessible and consistent UI at scale.

At Fjord for almost five years, I was hands-on leading applied research, service and experience design initiatives in fintech, healthcare, consumer goods and public sector spaces. I’ve been leading growth and service design teams since 2019, identifying trends and refining opportunities, and defining strategy and experiences through rapid experimentation.

As a writer and facilitator, I taught research, design and experimentation methodologies as a Design Coach for the Australian Government and co-authored the design playbook for a major Australian bank’s innovation team.

2012 – 2016

A contractor in London for several years, I collaborated with creative agencies like FutureBrand, R/GA and SapientNitro on campaigns, games, films and social, UX and product design.

At TimeOut London in 2015-16, I was central to the rollout of a new design system across digital channels for the magazine’s brand redesign. In 2013-14, I successfully pitched and led the team for an interactive film for Heineken’s cider portfolio and guided teams as digital Creative Lead for Heineken, launching several new brands to market. I also designed some cute social games for KFC, but we don’t talk about that so much at the grown-ups’ table anymore.

USER EXPERIENCE CONSULTANT

As a User Experience Consultant travelling in Adobe’s Northern Europe region, I scoped and designed enterprise systems for fintech clients including BNP Paribas in France and Deutsche Bank in Germany.

Back in the UK, I ran exploratory research activities first-hand in hospitals around the country to co-design one of the first Electronic Medical Records for the UK National Health Service (NHS). Studying the natural handling and distribution of paper records, myself and the team took our ethnographic insights through to high-fidelity designs, pioneering foundational patterns for emerging digital health systems.
